Code of Conduct
At our festival, it's very important to us that everyone feels safe, respected, and joyful. We sincerely wish for our festival space to be a place where we come together for dance, music, learning, socializing, and connection. The rules below have been created to ensure that the space where we dance together remains inclusive, healthy, and respectful for everyone.
1. Mutual respect and consent
- All dance invitations should be made politely, and a "no" should be accepted with the same politeness.
- If you wish to continue dancing after a song ends, you should ask again.
- No dance invitation should be repeatedly insisted upon after being declined.
- Physical contact should happen only within the context of dance and with mutual consent.
- Respect each person's personal space and bodily boundaries.
2. Hygiene and personal care
- Considering the close physical contact in dance, please choose clean clothes and maintain personal care.
- It is recommended to change clothes more than once a day, use deodorant, and pay attention to oral hygiene.
- Please dispose of trash in the bins provided.
3. Alcohol and substance use
- Alcohol consumption in the festival area should be moderate and respectful.
- Being under the influence of excessive alcohol or any other substance may disturb your dance partner and compromise safety.
- The use of illegal drugs is strictly prohibited during the festival and all related events.
4. Inclusive and safe space
- All gender identities, orientations, ages, bodies, and experience levels are equally welcome at the festival.
- Racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, ableist, or any exclusionary behavior will not be tolerated.
- We can create an environment where everyone can be themselves — together.
5. Roles, communication and openness
- Leading and following roles can be chosen based on preference, not gender.
- Communicate openly with your partner, and don't hesitate to express if you feel uncomfortable.
- If you feel unsafe, uncomfortable, or that boundaries have been crossed — for yourself or others — you may report it to the festival team.
- Avoid giving feedback during or after a dance without the other person's consent.
6. Performances, photography & video
- During performances, audience members are expected to remain quiet and respectful.
- If you are uncomfortable being photographed or filmed, please inform the festival team.
- Please avoid posting photos or videos of other participants on social media without their consent.
7. Complaint and support mechanism
- A dedicated Safety & Support Team will be available during the festival, and all matters will be handled confidentially.
- Any boundary violations, harassment, or disturbing behavior can be reported to this team.
- Participants who violate community guidelines may be removed from the event if necessary.
- Participants must not engage in any behavior that endangers their own or others' physical, emotional, or mental health. In such cases, the festival and venue organizers reserve the right to take necessary action.
- Whether you are new to dance or a long-time community member, these rules apply to all of us. Keeping this festival alive in solidarity and safety is everyone's shared responsibility.
