Classes
At Jumpin’ at Istanbul, our class program is divided into Main Classes and Theme Classes. Your Full Pass gives you access to your assigned Main Class track as well as all Theme Classes throughout the festival.
Main Classes
Main Classes are the core learning experience of your Full Pass.
When you register, you choose your level and pass type. Based on your registration, you will belong to a specific class track for the festival.
Each track follows its own schedule and has its own Main Classes. This means you don't need to sign up separately for individual Main Classes. Simply follow the schedule of your track.
To make everything easy during the festival, each track has its own color. When you check in at registration, you will receive a colored bracelet corresponding to your track.
Your bracelet is your guide throughout the weekend: follow your color, find your class, and dance!
How Main Classes work
- Main Classes are included in your Full Pass.
- Every Full Pass participant belongs to a specific track.
- Your track determines which Main Classes you attend.
- Each track has its own schedule.
- Each track is represented by a different colored bracelet.
- You will receive your bracelet when you check in at the festival.
- There is no need to register separately for individual Main Classes.
Theme Classes
Theme Classes are our large-capacity, Open Level classes designed to bring dancers from different tracks and levels together.
Unlike Main Classes, Theme Classes do not belong to one specific track.
They focus on a particular idea, topic or perspective selected by our teachers. Depending on the teacher, this could mean rhythm, musicality, movement, partnership, creativity, jazz history, personal expression, or something completely unexpected.
All Full Pass participants can join Theme Classes, regardless of their track or bracelet color.
Because they are Open Level, teachers will approach the material in a way that allows dancers with different backgrounds and experience levels to participate.
Theme Classes also have a higher capacity than Main Classes, so they are a chance to step outside your regular group, learn from another perspective and share the room with dancers from across the festival.
Main Class or Theme Class?
Think of Main Classes as your home base.
You have a track, a level, a bracelet color and a Main Class schedule to follow throughout the festival.
Theme Classes are where the tracks meet.
They are larger, Open Level sessions where Full Pass participants can explore additional topics beyond their regular class program.
Both are part of the Jumpin’ at Istanbul learning experience, just in different ways.
Class FAQ
Do I need to register separately for every class?
No. Your Main Classes are already determined by your Full Pass and track. Simply follow the schedule assigned to your bracelet color. Theme Classes are also included for Full Pass holders and do not require you to choose them during your initial registration.
What is a track?
A track is your Main Class group for the festival. Your track determines your Main Class schedule and is represented by a specific bracelet color.
When will I know my track?
You will receive the information about your track together with the relevant festival schedule information. When you arrive and check in, you will receive the colored bracelet corresponding to your track.
Why do tracks have different colors?
We want the class system to be as simple as possible once you're at the festival. Instead of constantly checking complicated group names, you can simply follow your bracelet color on the schedule.
Can I attend the Main Class of another track?
No. Main Classes are organized according to the capacity, level and structure of each track. Please attend the Main Classes assigned to your track. This helps us maintain balanced class sizes and a better learning environment for everyone.
Can I change my track during the festival?
Track changes are generally not possible during the festival, as class sizes and groups are organized in advance. If there is an exceptional situation, please speak with the festival team.
What does Open Level mean?
Open Level means that the class is not designed specifically for Intermediate, Intermediate/Advanced, Advanced or Advanced+ dancers. Instead, the teacher explores a theme that can be approached at different depths depending on your experience. You are not expected to understand or master everything in exactly the same way as everyone else in the room.
Can Intermediate dancers join Theme Classes?
Absolutely. Theme Classes are open to all Full Pass levels, including Intermediate.
I'm Advanced+. Will an Open Level Theme Class be too easy for me?
Not necessarily. Open Level does not mean beginner level. Theme Classes are designed around ideas that can be explored at different depths. An experienced dancer may find different challenges and possibilities in the same material than a less experienced dancer.
Are Theme Classes mandatory?
No. Theme Classes are additional opportunities within the Full Pass program. You can choose which Theme Classes you would like to attend according to your energy, interests and festival schedule.
Do Theme Classes have limited capacity?
Theme Classes are planned with a significantly higher capacity than regular Main Classes. However, room capacity and safety requirements still apply. If a room reaches its maximum capacity, we may need to stop additional participants from entering.
Does my bracelet color matter for Theme Classes?
No! All bracelet colors are welcome at Theme Classes. Your bracelet color only determines your Main Class track.
Do I need to keep my bracelet for the whole festival?
Yes. Please keep your bracelet on throughout the festival. It helps our team identify your pass and Main Class track and makes entering the appropriate classes much easier.
What if I lose or damage my bracelet?
Please visit the registration/help desk and speak with our team. Do not simply join another track based on a different bracelet.
Can I attend every Theme Class?
You are welcome to attend the Theme Classes available to Full Pass holders, as long as there is enough room capacity and there is no scheduling conflict with your Main Classes. Your Main Classes should always take priority over Theme Classes.
Do I need a partner for classes?
Unless a particular class is specifically announced otherwise, you do not need to register with a partner. Partner rotation and the exact class format will be explained by the teachers during the class.
Where can I see my classes?
Before the festival, we will publish the complete schedule showing Main Classes by track/color and all available Theme Classes. Once you know your bracelet color, finding your Main Classes on the schedule will be easy.
